APNIC Regional Meetings

ARM 2 at Internet20PH

Join us for the second APNIC Regional Meeting, which will be held in conjunction with the 20th anniversary of the Internet in the Philippines on 4 April. This event, like all APNIC Regional Meetings, is free of charge. There will also be a three-day Advanced BGP workshop from 31 March - 3 April.

ICANN 49, Singapore

APNIC at ICANN 49 in Singapore

APNIC staff were busy at last week's ICANN meeting in Singapore.

Sunny Chendi participated in an IPv6 roundtable discussion and presented an update of IPv6 deployment in the region.

A special session on ISIF Asia, moderated by APNIC, provided an opportunity for the ICANN community to learn more about the development work going on in our region. ICANN generously sponsored three ISIF Asia Ambassadors to attend and speak.

Paul Wilson spoke on several panels and was also interviewed by journalists about IPv6 and the community discussions around the IANA functions.

Following the recent US Government announcement regarding IANA oversight, ICANN held consultation sessions to discuss the process for this transition. Paul Wilson contributed actively, in one case stressing that this process must include other communities which do not attend ICANN, but which will need to undertake their own separate discussions before making a contribution. ICANN will release details of a proposed community process on 7 April, for public comment.

The APNIC EC established a new open mailing list for discussion of the process and the desired outcome. The APNIC EC encourages all interested parties, particularly APNIC Members and the wider community, to join this mailing list and participate.
