First Pacific IGF

The first Pacific IGF will be held in Noumea, New Caledonia from 9-10 April 2011. Coinciding with other major Pacific Internet community events, APNIC encourages everyone attending PITA and APTLD to participate at no additional cost.

Pacific IGF is hosted by the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC).

Register now - spaces may be limited.

APNIC 31 Policy Update

Andy Linton was elected to serve as a Policy SIG Co-Chair.

The following proposals reached consensus at APNIC 31 and are now in the final comment period:

  • prop-097: Global Policy for post exhaustion IPv4 allocation mechanisms by IANA
  • prop-095: Inter-RIR IPv4 address transfer protocol
  • prop-094: Removing renumbering requirement from final /8 policy
  • prop-093: Reducing the miniumum delegation size for the final /8 policy
  • prop-088: Distribution of IPv4 addresses once the final /8 period starts
  • prop-083: Alternative criteria for subsequent IPv6 allocations

CSTD Update

Sam Dickinson, APNIC's Internet Governance Specialist, attended the recent Commission on Science and Technology for Development Working Group (CSTD WG) meeting in Geneva as a technical and academic community representative.
