Whois

During this time, APNIC’s Whois service was updated to support the
sponsoring-org attribute on the aut-num record, in order to
properly distinguish ASNs operated by members in their own right
from ASNs delegated to members on behalf of their customers. The
corresponding updates to the existing aut-num records also
happened at this time.

aut-num records for ASNs operated by members in their own right
are not affected by this change. ASNs delegated to members on
behalf of their customers now have an aut-num record containing a
sponsoring-org attribute, pointing to the member’s organisation
object, and an org attribute pointing to the customer’s
organisation object.

There will be further changes after APNIC 56 in order to support
updates to these records via MyAPNIC. In the interim, any changes
that are needed should be requested by way of helpdesk@apnic.net.
